October 9, 2007--Brenham, Texas

William E. “Bill” Parham, a local attorney and former prosecutor, is announcing his candidacy for the office of District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District (Washington and Burleson counties) in 2008.

Parham, who is currently in private practice in Brenham, has compiled an impressive 17 year track record having tried a broad array of cases including capital murder, murder, sex offenses, drug offenses, DWI, and white collar crimes to name a few. His extensive background in criminal law is further complimented by his experiences as an appellate lawyer, a special prosecutor, and part time law professor. As a prosecutor, which included four years as the Assistant District Attorney in Brenham from 2000 to 2004, Parham has compiled a remarkable 90 percent plus trial conviction rate.
His civic and professional associations include memberships in National District Attorneys Association, Texas District and County Attorneys Association, Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Washington County, Graham Masonic Lodge in Brenham, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Burleson County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Washington County, and Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Parham and his wife Jeanette have a daughter Michelle, who is an attorney and works for the U.S. Treasury Department as a federal bank examiner, son-in-law Chris, an engineer with Exxon, and 21 month old granddaughter Jordan. They are also the proud parents of a son, Cheyne, who is a 1st Lieutenant in the 4/7 Cavalry, Second Infantry Division, U. S. Army, currently serving in Korea.
Parham pledges to enforce the laws of the State of Texas while being proactive to the needs of the communities and the citizenry. “I will reestablish the working relations between the District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement agencies with the goal of enhancing communications, cooperation and coordination toward fighting crime. I will meet with community based organizations in an effort to solve neighborhood crime problems. In addition to direct work with citizens, I will work with police agencies and other governmental officials to deal with particular crime problems in targeted locations. I will also immediately implement a zero tolerance program targeting probation violators and repeat offenders. It is unacceptable to allow offenders to continue practicing their criminal trade while on probation or bail. IT IS TIME FOR ACCOUNTABILITY.
I look forward to your support and ask you for your vote in 2008.”
